In order to get people healthy food from my farm, I went back in time.
I started growing the wheat my great grandfather grew - Turkey Red Hard Wheat.
Unlike modern wheats it grows with minimal or no fertilizer, bred with a strong root system to bring up soil nutrients and build soil life.
It is also full of nutrients because of its natural breeding.
I found some seed in Kansas and started growing.
I was very pleased with how healthy the plants were on no fertilizer.
It was also great to see how healthy the wheat was (high germination) and how good it smelled and tasted.
We found a local flour miller, Dustin Hess of Stone and Sparrow farm and had it milled up.
