Butter swim Biscuits, Tortillas, Pancakes

We wanted to give you a few recipes that can be made from our turkey red or all purpose flour!

Butter Swim Biscuits

Ingredients

2.5 cup flour

4 teaspoon baking powder

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoon salt

2 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup butter

Melt 1/2 stick butter in 8x13 pan in oven at 450 F.  Mix flour baking powder, sugar, salt, and buttermilk in a bowl.  Pour mixture into pan with melted butter.  Bake for 28 min at 450F.

Pancakes/waffles

Ingredients - (6) 4-inch pancakes

1 cup flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

1 egg

1 tablespoon oil

Mix all ingredients in a bowl.  Let batter sit for 2 min

Preheat pan over medium high heat or griddle to 375 or preheat waffle iron.  lightly grese

Pour 1/4 cup batter for each pancake.  cook 1-2 minutes per side flipping only once.  waffle: pour batter into iron and cook until desire texture and doneness.

Tortillas

Ingredients

2.5 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon table salt

1/4 cup  butter

1 cup hot water

In medium bowl whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.  Add the butter. 

Use fingers or pastry blender to work the fat into the flour.

Pour in the hot water, and stir briskly with a fork or whisk to bring the dough together.  Stir in additional water as needed to bring the dough together.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured counter and knead briefly, just until the dough forms a ball.  If the dough is very sticky, gradually add a bit more flour.
