Soybeans, cover mixes, and building update!

Soybeans, cover mixes, and building update!

Fall is here! My milo, sunflower, buckwheat, cowpea mix continues to thrive. The cowpeas have climbed up the milo and are making lots of peas! This mix will be harvested for grain and used to feed our hogs. Diversity! Good for the soil, animals, and meat nutrition.

I had an accident in some of my soybean fields where several rows on the grain drill ran out at planting, leaving blank rows. The wider row spacing (40" instead of 10") allowed more sunlight to the plants giving monster plants that are loaded with beans. Sunlight is plant food!

Our flour house building continues to progress. The roof is on, sidewalls complete, now we need endwalls, doors, and electrical! No sweat!
